15th-Aug-2011 10:50 am - Strawberry-Banana Smoothie
Strawberry-Banana Smoothie - 1 Serving

4 strawberries, hulled

1/2 half frozen banana

1/4 cup milk

1/4 cup vanilla yogurt

1 1/2 teaspoon white sugar

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

3 cubes ice, crushed

I love having this is the morning or as a treat. Very healthy, but is high in sugar.

Sugar is 16.3g. If you were to order this at McDonald's the sugar would be 2.5 times higher. I will stick with homemade. Much better for me. :)

28th-Mar-2011 11:06 pm - 斉藤さん - Saito-san
J-Drama: Saito-san.
Rating: 8.5/10 - cute, fun, easy going
Viewership ratings: 15.5 (Kanto)

Just finished watching this one a few days ago. On some days I watched more than one episode, which means I liked it.
This drama has a stress free theme & is just fun to watch. Although, I must say the last 2 episodes become less light-hearted. I did feel a little let-down with this ending. Please don't let those words stop you from watching this drama because it's definitely worth the time to watch. I just wanted a different end. Sorry!

Saito-san is a woman who believes in following rules & doing the right thing. She holds others to this. Her & Mano (her new neighbor) meet one day while Saito is being herself & telling an elderly lady she has to follow the trash day rules. Mano is a little nervous, but manages to introduce herself. Saito & Mano both have boys the same age that attend the same kindergarten. Over time a friendship is born.

Couple of other things that bugged me.
* Never got to see the father's face.
* Mano wearing those knee length shorts with boots. *eye sore*

20th-Mar-2011 11:03 pm - The Flower Shop Without Roses
After watching lunch queen Yuko Takeuchi got to me. In the best way possible. Even more so when I found out she played in Flash Forward & was the same girl Nino was flirting with on VS Arashi. She's a delight to watch.

I watched Bara no nai Hanaya aka The Flower Shop Without Roses.
The story was just what I was looking for. Another father-daughter(young) innocent story about their bond. The romance aspect was appropriate - someone who has never truely allowed himself to experience happiness eventually allows oneself to after the love of those nearby. Cute story with lovely ending. Really enjoyed it.

30th-Oct-2010 03:07 pm - It's almost Halloween!
I love the holidays and just about everything that comes with it. Most of all I love the specials that air (or used to) on TV. Here's a few of my favorites that I watch almost every year.

Worst Witch 1986

If I could only watch one..this would be it. It's a low budget movie, but it's still a good movie. I've been watching it since it aired on Disney when I was a little girl.
"Mildred is one of the young girls at a prestigious witch academy. She can't seem to do anything right and is picked on by classmates and teachers. The headmistress of the school, Miss Cackle, has an evil twin sister (Agatha) who plans to destroy the school. Can Mildred foil the plan before the Grand Wizard (Tim Curry) comes to the Academy for the Halloween celebration you'll never forget?!!"

Hocus Pocus 1993

I really like witches. Especially these 3 lovely ladies.
"More than 300 years ago, 3 witches were sentenced to die in Salem, Massachusetts and a boy was turned into a cat (a black cat, naturally). Now it's Halloween, and the witches (who fly on [I kid you not] vacuum cleaners) are back. This time, they've got their eyes on immortal life and have turned their wrath on trick-or-treaters and it's up to the 300-year-old cat to save the day. "

Garfield's Halloween Adventure 1985

Honestly this is my first year watching it. I still found it cute and enjoyable no matter the age of the audience.
"Garfield has one spooktacular adventure on the Eve of All Saints. He fashions himself a pirate costume then takes Odie out trick-or-treating to ensure extra candy. But when attempting to cross a river on a boat, Garfield and Odie end up at a haunted house. Horror and hilarity ensue. "

Disney's Halloween Treat 1982

This aired every year of Disney channel for the longest time. Now it's retired, but I still play it! I didn't like it that much when I was little...it's more of tradition. When this is playing it really feels like Halloween. :) It's a bunch of scary scenes from disney cartoons made into a special fright fest.
"Contains memorable scenes from "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," "Fantasia," "Lady and the Tramp," "Peter Pan," "One Hundred and One Dalmatians," and "The Sword in the Stone."

Jack-o-Lantern 1972

This is a Rankin-Bass movie that I can't find anywhere. :( I watched it when I was little all the time, even when it wasn't in season. Our local library had it and my mama let me rent it often.
"Grandfather tells the story of an elfish wil-o-the wisp, Jack O Lantern. Jack is a good soul, who has turned himself into a pumpkin seed to hibernate for the winter. The local farmers are threatened to have their crops destroyed by Zelda the witch and her ghouls, but Jack is back and launches an offensive against the evil-doers with the help of two of the farmers children."

11th-Oct-2010 01:52 pm - The Princess and the Goblin
I had another night where I couldn't sleep (due to my evening nap) and didn't make it to bed until around 4am. Then my bf wakes me at around 8:30am....I wish he could be more considerate when it's obvious I'm having a rough day. At least I get to stay home today. The tub was thoroughly cleaned since this weekend Bandit had a bath & left all his fur in the tub. Got all the trash taken out and toilet cleaned, lol. Who cares? well, I like a clean house. If you knew my mother you would understand why.

The Princess and the Goblin - 1992
I used to rent this VHS tape from the library, I think. It's actually pretty cute (not the trolls tho!). I know some people complained about the animation, but being young it didn't bother me. It's not that bad anyway. Children who like princess stories will like this movie.

Princess Irene gets lost in the woods one night and encounters some goblin pets. A young boy, Curdie, finds her and manages to get her back to the castle. The King leaves for a short time, hoping that nothing will happen to his daughter while he is away. Irene goes off exploring in the castle and finds a tower where her great great grandmother Irene comes to her to help her. Meanwhile, Curdie is helping his father in the mines, when he finds himself overhearing the goblin's plot to overtake the "sun people" and regain their ability to live above ground. Part of Prince Froglip's plot is to marry Princess Irene, so that the sun people will have to accept the goblins as their rulers. Before Curdie can run and tell the others, the goblins find him and put in away in a dungeon, but Irene manages to find him with the help of magic string her great great grandmother Irene gave to her. The goblins finally manage to flood the mines and attack the castle, but with the help of Curdie and Irene, they fight them off and save the kingdom. - wikipedia

Btw, the grandmother in the movie is BEAUTIFUL. The voice actor has the most elegant voice I have ever heard.

9th-Oct-2010 06:52 pm - The Secret of Roan Inish
The Secret of Roan Inish 1994
It took me forever to remember the name of this movie. I used to watch it with my family at my grandparents house on the family channel (before owned by abc). I was young at the time and didn't understand the folklore as well as I can now, but I still enjoyed watching it. It's a beautifully shot movie that will have your eyes dancing. Expect to want to enjoy a spring day after seeing this movie.

10-year-old Fiona is sent to live with her grandparents in a small fishing village in Donegal, Ireland. She soon learns the local legend that an ancestor of hers married a Selkie - a seal who can turn into a human. Years earlier, her baby brother washed out to sea in a cradle shaped like a boat; someone in the family believes the boy is being raised by the seals. Then Fiona catches sight of a naked little boy on the abandoned Isle of Roan Inish and takes an active role in uncovering The Secret of Roan Inish. Written by John Oswalt.  - IMDb
